More than a thousand illegal Zionist settlers have stormed the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in al-Quds amid escalation of violence by Zionist regime forces and illegal settlers against the Palestinian people.
Palestinian sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said hundreds of illegal Zionist settlers forced their way into the holy site through the Bab al-Magharibah under the tight protection of several groups of Israeli regime soldiers and special police forces, Arabic-language Safa news agency reported.
The illegal settlers escorted by Zionist regime police misbehaved and performed provocative acts at the mosque’s courtyard.
Heavily armed Israeli regime police forces set up iron barriers on the doors and confiscated identity cards of Palestinians before allowing them to enter the compound.
The occupied Palestinian territories have witnessed new tensions ever since US President Donald Trump announced his decision on December 6 last year to recognize al-Quds as the illegal Zionist entity’s capital and relocate the US embassy in Occupied Palestine from Tel Aviv to the holy city of al-Quds.
