“Hold fast to the Rope of Allah, altogether, and do not be divided,” are the explicit words of the Holy Qur’an in ayah 103 of Surah Aal-e Imran, said columnist S. Nawabzadeh in his Viewpoint Column titled: “United We Stand Divided We Fall”, in Iran’s English language daily ‘Kayhan International’ on the occasion of the Islamic Unity Week that ended on Sunday.
In this article, he noted among several important points the latest speech of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who called for the return of the rulers of Muslim states to the fold of Islam.
God Almighty’s command to the believers is crystal clear, and the Prophet of Peace spared no efforts during his 23-year long mission to preach the universal message of Islam in uniting not just the fratricidal Arab tribes, but all those who came into contact with him, like the enslaved black Africans, the Romans such as Suhayb, and the Persians represented by Salman Farsi, into the monolithic Muslim Ummah.
While departing from the mortal world for his heavenly abode the Messenger of Mercy bequeathed to the Muslims the excellent formula of unity, saying they will never go astray if they hold fast to the Two Weighty Things (or Thaqalayn), that is, the Book of God (Holy Qur’an) and his progeny the Ahl al-Bayt that he was leaving behind for guidance.
The Revealed Word of the Almighty Creator and the Hadith or statements of Prophet Muhammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) transcend the barriers of time and geography, which means they are beacons of light for all eras and all places, especially for members of the Ummah who today inhabit all parts of the globe.
Columnist Nawabzadeh said in Kayhan International: “Today when Muslims account for a fifth of the world’s estimated 7 billion population and 53 of the countries where they are in majority, have got together to form the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), along with 4 countries where they have sizeable numbers (the country left out being India and its huge Muslim population of around 250 million Muslims), the Ummah, unfortunately, presents the spectacle of a house divided against itself, for the simple reason the rulers, not the people they rule, have decided to drift away from the Qur’an and the Sunnah (the Prophet’s practice and behaviour).
“Instead of trying to bridge the gaps that have grown over time in jurisprudential matters, in order to build ideological unity, or to cooperate and coordinate with each other to at least promote political proximity for proper use of the vast natural resources bestowed by the Almighty Creator, these so-called Muslim rulers, in addition to repressing the people they rule and creating terroristic sectarian divisions, dance to the tune of the avowed enemies of the Ummah, such as the US and the illegal Zionist entity, to whom the wealth of the lands of Islam is being systematically channeled.
“The result has been the destabilization of Syria, the devastation in Iraq, the destruction of Yemen, the desertion of Palestine and the cause of Islam’s First Qibla, the US occupation of Afghanistan, the brutalization of Bahrain, the crushing of the people’s Islamic aspirations in Egypt, the fragmentation of Libya, the weakening of Pakistan, the terrorization of Nigeria, and last but not the least the humiliating surrender of all Arabia including Hijaz the Land of Revelation to the Americans and the Israelis.”
The Columnist noted” “Gone are the days when the enemies of Islam and Muslims used to laugh behind backs at the ideological ignorance and political immaturity of their client regimes in the Muslim world. Now, these archenemies of the Ummah are arrogantly and openly giving orders to these regimes to indulge in fratricide and internal conflicts.
“In such a horrific situation what is the responsibility of the Muslim masses, especially of the ulema, who are supposed to be religious, spiritual, and social guides of the people?
“The answer is obvious. They should endeavor to narrow the ideological, especially the jurisprudential gaps among the believers.
“It is now almost 40 years since the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (God bless him) made the dynamic move in designating as Islamic Unity Week the six days spanning the two dates of the moth of Rabi al-Awwal believed to be the actual birthday of the Seal of Messengers – 12th for the Sunnis in accordance with the narrations of the Prophet’s companions, and 17th for the Shi’as who deem family accounts to be more reliable.
“Thanks to the enedavours of the Islamic Republic, the Islamic Unity Week has not just succeeded in fostering solidarity in Iran but has spread in the region and all over the world to arouse the conscience of the Muslims to the benefits of knitting their ranks on the basis of the ayahs of the holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s Hadith, much to the chagrin of the Ummah’s satanic enemies who in a desperate attempt to undermine Iran’s efforts have launch a war of economic terrorism.
“Nonetheless, Tehran which is hosting the 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference where some 350 leading figures from over a hundred world countries are participating, continues to play its role as the leader of the Ummah’s solidarity.”
S. Nawabzadeh wrote: “Undaunted by the plots of the US and the Zionists, or the conspiracies of the so-called Muslim regimes, the message of Iran to the ulema of Islam all over the world, irrespective of the minor jurisprudential differences, is crystal clear: Adhere to the Holy Qur’an and the Prophet’s Sunnah, whose most clear manifestation is love for the Ahl al-Bayt, and the Ummah will indeed triumph over sectarianism, terrorism, and thralldom to the US and the Zionists.
“It means only return to Islamic values and adherence to the path of Prophet Muhammad (blessings of God upon him and his progeny) will salvage Muslim states and safe them from indignity at the hands of their archenemy, the US, which despite reaping the maximum benefits from their wealth and resources, and using them to carry out its dirty acts of destruction of each other, humiliates them at every turn.
“This was the gist of the speech of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, on yesterday, Rabi al-Awwal 17, on the blessed birth anniversaries of the Prophet Muhammad and that of his 6th Infallible Heir Imam Ja’far as-Sadeq (peace upon them) – 136 years later in 83 AH – during an audience he granted in Tehran to heads of the three branches of government, senior civilian and military officials, Muslim diplomatic representatives of foreign countries in the Iranian capital, and the three hundred-plus scholars and political figures from at least a hundred countries attending the 32nd International Islamic Unity Confab.
“It is hoped that heads of Muslim countries who are busy serving American and Zionist interests, rather than Islam or at least the interests of the people they rule, will remove wax from their ears to listen to the message from the Islamic Republic and properly reflect upon it.”
The daily further said: “It is indeed a matter of regret that the world’s 1.7 billion Muslims, especially the Muslim countries which stretch from Indonesia in the east to the Atlantic coast of Africa in the west, and are blessed with untold natural reserves, are dancing to the dictates of Washington and even the illegitimate brat called Israel.
“These countries, which possess all the necessary ingredients for becoming a solid power block on the international scene, have unfortunately not realized their own potential, as a result of which they are being used to carry out the dangerous and destructive designs of their archenemies against each other.
“Take for instance the case of Yemen, which for almost the past four years is being brutally bombed by Saudi Arabia, whose rulers, if they were really Muslim, would have extended a helping hand to develop the Arab world’s poorest state through their vast oil wealth, instead of wasting billions of dollars to kill fellow Muslims and destroy their infrastructure.
“Another example is the chronic question of the Zionist-usurped land of Palestine and the occupation by east European Jews of the Islamic holy city of Bayt al-Moqaddas which houses the sacred al-Aqsa Mosque, the former qibla or focal point of prayer for Muslims.
“If the Muslim countries had pooled a fraction of their monetary and military resources to help the oppressed people of Palestine, the cancerous tumour called Israel could have long been weeded out.
“Sadly, instead of helping their brethren-in-faith, some of the Arab reactionary regimes are taking turns to host with pride (actually indignity) the child killing racist criminal Benjamin Netanyahu.
“It is fear of the supposedly mighty US that makes them axe their own feet, when with a little bit of commonsense these countries could have heeded the voice of reason from Iran to get together and drive out the Americans forever from our region.
“Still it is not too late. Still there is time for reflection, repentance and return to the fold of Islam. The moment they do it, by compensating Syria, Iraq, and Yemen for the destruction they have wrought, God Almighty will indeed shower His mercy and enable them to regain dignity; otherwise they will vanish into oblivion as was the fate of the deviationist states of the past.
“Nonetheless, the US and the Zionists are bound to suffer defeat, and it is the people of Yemen and Palestine, as well as other oppressed nations like the Afghans, who will emerge victorious – true to God’s promise.”
