These stunning pictures show a 24-bend road snakes up a mountainside in Anshun City, southwest China’s Guizhou Province. With 24 switchbacks, the spectacular road twists and climbs in a vertical height of 260 meters and stretches 4 kilometers long. Built on a mountain slope, it is thought to be one of the most attractive but dangerous roads in China.
The zigzag road was built as part of China’s war against the Japanese aggression during World War II, serving as a crucial supply line for Chinese troops. It has become a cultural relic site under state protection.
